Creek County Park Lake. Children under 16 must have a parent present.

The “Hook, Line & Paddle Demo Day” is free to the public!

All skill levels are welcome.

Hook, Line & Paddle Demo Day will include:

The race is sanctioned by the World Paddle Association. Race chairman Shawn Spencer says,
“The Surf to Sound SUP races offer challenges in every event. This year’s rec divisions will offer the rec paddler a chance to test their current and wind-reading abilities as they navigate the sound side of Banks Channel and the ICWW.  The elite division, weather-dependent, will have an ocean start that always proves challenging for even the most weathered of the elite racers. Having a kids’ event in the sound will also give our young guns an opportunity paddle out, round a buoy and head for the cheers of the crowd. The atmosphere of the event will appeal to families as the Blockade Runner has the perfect setting for a day at the beach.”

Other planned events include the screening of a SUP film, a race clinic with Dan Gavere, an onsite retail expo, Sunday sprint relays and an ASI Instructor Training. Proceeds from the three-day weekend benefit For Masonboro a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports the co-existence of wildlife habitat and human recreation through education efforts to preserve the pristine, uninhabited barrier island.

Registration fees for men (boards 14’ and under) and women (12’6” and under) is $60. The event will kick off with a welcome reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. The Elite race will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday followed by the Intermediate race at 10:30 a.m. Oceanside Relays will be held Sunday morning for cash prizes. Paddlers will be able to check out the latest in board design with on-site expo and demos Saturday and Sunday. Paddling clinics will be available for all levels.
